The interior for Europe’s largest underwater restaurant was designed by Snøhetta and produced by Hamran. In close collaboration with the restaurant itself, the venue has been given a beautiful, cosy interior made from local Southern Norwegian oak.
We ourselves have felled the trees, cut them into planks and overseen the drying process. Because the project owners wanted it to have local roots, the use of locally grown oak has become an important part of the story.
The contract comprised delivery of a bespoke furniture collection comprising chairs, benches and two different tables, as well as the ceiling, walls, floor and recessed wall-side handrail along the staircase that takes guests 5.5m below the surface of the sea.
